Dr. Ann-Marie O’Connor, DMD, MMSc
Dr. Ann-Marie O’Connor received her Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Fairfield University, cum laude in 1996. She then received her DMD from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, cum laude in 2001. Dr. O’Connor completed her residency training in Periodontology and received her Masters of Medical Science in Oral Biology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Her Master's thesis work was conducted at the Forsyth Institute and explored the effect of surgical treatment on the composition of periodontal microbiota in the oral cavity.
During 2002 Dr. O’Connor attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where she studied Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering in Medical Devices and Artificial Organs. Her focus was on the application of biomaterials and tissue engineering using an integrated biological, engineering, academic and corporate approach focusing particularly on different surface coatings of dental implants.
Dr. O’Connor is trained in all aspects of periodontics, including gingival grafting for recession, crown lengthening procedures, pocket reduction therapies for periodontal disease, extractions, socket preservation with bone grafting, ridge augmentation to prepare areas for dental implants and multiple types of dental implants.
Dr. O’Connor is proficient in the placement of Dentsply Astra implants, Biomet 3i implants, Staumann ITI implants and Nobel Biocare/Branemark implants.
