BCBS Dentist

About the Company

  • Founded in 1929
  • Federation of 36 separate United States health insurance organizations and companies, providing health insurance in the United States to more than 106 million people
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has a long history of providing dental coverage. In fact, the organization has been meeting the dental care needs of its' members for more than 45 years

We are a BCBS Dentist that serves Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Lexington, Medford, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, Winchester and Woburn.

BCBS of Massachusetts is one of the largest dental insurance providers in Massachusetts. BCBS also has dental insurance plans in many other states including Rhode Island, Texas, California, and others. If Delta Dental is so large then why do patients have a hard time finding a BCBS Dentist that is in their network? Probably because there are a few kinds of BCBS insurance plans and they are usually not explained well.

There are seven basic types of BCBS insurance that your employer may offer PPO and HMO. Where many patients get confused is the different plans that fall under these two types. In general, there are three major BCBS plans that we have worked with over the years.

Blue Cross Blue Shield offers several different dental plans. In order to determine which coverage you have, please check the front of your ID card or call your insurance company. We are a participating provider in the following BCBS plans:

  1. Dental Blue
  2. Dental Blue Preventive
  3. Dental Blue Select
  4. Medicare HMO Blue
  5. Medicare PPO Blue
  6. HMO Blue (Kiddy rider with medical insurance plans)
  7. Blue Cross 65

Dental Indemnity Plan: With a Dental Indemnity Plan, you can choose any dentist you want, and you don't need a referral to visit a specialist. Most PPO dental plans are an indemnity plan. Most PPO plans allow you to choose any dentist. We accept your PPO plan if it is an indemnity plan. You will generally be responsible for a deductible and co-insurance for services.  Most Blue Cross dental plans also have an annual benefit maximum.

We will try our best to provide you with a dental treatment estimate that includes details on the services that you need and how much each service will cost. We will call Blue Cross dental insurance and try to get more information about your dental benefits.

Your Blue Cross dental plan may have limitations as you may have a waiting period before you can get any major dental treatment.  Most Dental plans may not cover every dental service that may be suggested by your dentist. For example, some plans may not cover dental implants. In addition, services for strictly cosmetic reasons, such as teeth whitening, are rarely covered by dental insurance.

Your dental benefit program is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company. A dental office is not a party to that contract. Our office will be happy to file your insurance claim as a courtesy to you. We are an out of network provider for your plan, you may have a higher copay.
